Draftsman (DSR Apapa)

Job Summary

The Draftsman is responsible for preparing, modifying and maintaining accurate technical drawings, layouts and engineering documentation to support engineering, maintenance, construction and installation activities at the DSR Numan Plant. The role works closely with engineers, designers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure drawings comply with approved specifications, engineering standards and safety requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed technical drawings, layouts and engineering schematics based on specifications, measurements and engineering calculations.
  • Develop and modify drawings using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software.
  • Review engineering drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with approved specifications and standards.
  • Revise drawings to incorporate design changes, modifications and project requirements.
  • Prepare drawings for equipment installation, plant modifications, construction and maintenance activities.
  • Incorporate relevant safety requirements into engineering, installation and construction drawings.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, contractors and other relevant stakeholders to clarify design requirements and resolve drawing-related issues.
  • Conduct site measurements and inspections where required to ensure drawings accurately reflect existing plant conditions.
  • Identify discrepancies, potential design or drafting issues and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of drawings, revisions and engineering documentation.
  • Ensure proper version control and filing of engineering drawings and related documents.
  • Provide drawings and technical documentation required for engineering projects, maintenance activities and plant improvements.
  • Support the preparation of reports, data entry and other engineering documentation as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of engineering information and drawings.
  • Ensure good housekeeping and compliance with applicable HSE requirements within the work area.
  • Keep abreast of emerging drafting technologies, CADD software and industry practices.

 

Qualification & Experience

  • HND/B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology or a related discipline.
  • Relevant professional certification or technical drafting qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant CADD software.
  • Relevant experience in engineering drafting, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial or plant environment.
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings, layouts, dimensions and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of applicable engineering, construction and safety standards.
  • 3-5 years experience in this role. Experience in manufacturing is an added advantage.
