Job Summary

The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment, including centrifugal machines, dryers, conveyors, elevators, and other plant machinery. The role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable mechanical operations by supervising technicians, enforcing Standard Operating Conditions, coordinating maintenance activities, and ensuring adherence to safety and housekeeping standards. The Mechanical Supervisor provides technical guidance, monitors equipment performance, and supports continuous improvement of plant machinery reliability.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Supervision & Leadership

  • Supervise Mechanical Technicians and ensure proper execution of daily operations and maintenance tasks.
  • Assign, monitor, and review work activities to ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to technical staff to improve competence and performance.
  • Ensure proper shift handover and reporting by the technical team.

2. Operations Oversight

  • Ensure efficient operation of centrifugal machines, dryers, conveyors, elevators, and other mechanical systems.
  • Confirm that all equipment operates strictly within approved Standard Operating Conditions (SOC).
  • Respond promptly to equipment abnormalities and initiate corrective actions.
  • Monitor equipment performance and ensure optimal machine availability.

3. Maintenance Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Supervise maintenance tasks and ensure proper documentation of all jobs carried out.
  • Track, analyze, and report maintenance activities, including downtime and root cause findings.
  • Liaise with maintenance planners and other departments for scheduling maintenance work.
  • Ensure proper use of tools, materials, and spare parts.

4. Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping

  • Enforce strict compliance with all safety rules, policies, and statutory regulations.
  • Promote safety awareness and correct unsafe acts or conditions immediately.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping standards are maintained across all mechanical operation and maintenance areas.
  • Approve and review Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for mechanical tasks.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and daily operations.
  • Prepare periodic reports on machine performance, maintenance execution, and operational issues.
  • Provide technical input for maintenance planning, procurement, and improvement initiatives.

6. Continuous Improvement

  • Recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance.
  • Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and long-term engineering solutions.
  • Drive compliance with maintenance KPIs and operational excellence standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Sc./HND in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years experience in mechanical operations or maintenance in a manufacturing, refinery, or processing environment.
  • Prior experience supervising mechanical technicians is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of boiler operating procedures is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of centrifugal machines, conveyors, dryers, elevators, and plant mechanical systems.

  • Sound technical knowledge of industrial mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings, SOPs, and maintenance manuals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem‑solving abilities.

  • High safety consciousness and strong adherence to maintenance discipline.
  • Good organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency breakdowns.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work in industrial environments (heat, noise, machinery).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform moderate physical tasks.
  • willingness to work shifts, weekends, or emergency calls when required.
