The DGM – Packing Plant is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and optimization of cement packing and dispatch systems. The role ensures timely, accurate, and safe packaging and delivery of cement products while maintaining high productivity, minimizing losses, and meeting customer demand.
Key Responsibilities
1. Packing Plant Operations
- Oversee daily operations of packing plant (rotary packers, electronic packers, bulk loading systems).
- Ensure achievement of packing and dispatch targets (bagged and bulk cement).
- Monitor plant KPIs such as packing efficiency, downtime, throughput, and losses.
- Ensure correct product type, weight accuracy, and quality compliance.
2. Dispatch & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate with sales, logistics, and distribution teams for timely dispatch.
- Optimize truck turnaround time (TTT) and loading efficiency.
- Ensure accurate documentation and product traceability.
- Manage bulk loading and bag dispatch systems effectively.
3. Maintenance & Reliability
- Ensure high availability and reliability of packing machines, conveyors, and truck loaders.
- Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Minimize breakdowns and operational delays.
4. Inventory & Loss Control
- Monitor cement stock levels in silos and packing lines.
- Control packing losses, spillage, and wastage.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation between production, packing, and dispatch volumes.
- Implement systems to reduce product shrinkage and pilferage.
5. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure strict adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain zero-incident and zero-accident culture in packing and dispatch areas.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and dust control standards.
- Lead safety audits, risk assessments, and training programs.
6. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve packing efficiency and reduce cycle times.
- Implement automation and digital monitoring systems where applicable.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives in packing and logistics operations.
- Benchmark performance against industry best practices.
7. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, motivate, and develop packing plant and dispatch teams.
- Ensure adequate manpower planning, shift management, and skill development.
- Build a performance-driven culture with clear accountability.
- Conduct regular training and competency assessments.
8. Budgeting & Cost Management
- Prepare and manage OPEX budgets for packing plant operations.
- Control cost related to packing materials (bags), maintenance, and logistics.
- Track and optimize cost per tonne packed and dispatched.
9. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and sales teams.
- Manage relationships with transporters, contractors, and vendors.
- Provide regular operational reports to management.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Electrical Engineering.
- 12–18 years of experience in cement manufacturing, with strong exposure to packing plant operations.
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
