Job Summary

The Compliance Specialist supports the implementation and monitoring of DPRP’s compliance framework, ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The role focuses on identifying compliance risks, supporting policy development, and ensuring timely regulatory filings and reporting.The position works closely with the Compliance Lead, General Counsel, and Company Secretary to promote effective governance, mitigate regulatory risks, and maintain a strong compliance culture across the organization.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

a. Support the development and implementation of DPRP’s compliance and corporate governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

b. Assist in developing and reviewing corporate policies, compliance manuals, and codes of ethics to ensure clarity and regulatory compliance.

c. Conduct research and comparative analysis of corporate governance frameworks and regulatory developments to inform policy updates and compliance strategies.

d. Monitor compliance across business units and identify gaps, breaches, or areas of risk, escalating critical issues to the Compliance Lead for resolution.

e. Support the coordination and implementation of new regulatory requirements, ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are established across the organization.

f. Assist in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of compliance programs and controls within business units.

g. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulatory, legislative, and policy requirements and support the organization’s response to compliance obligations.

h. Support alignment of DPRP’s compliance activities with Group policies and overall governance standards.

i. Assist in managing statutory filings, regulatory submissions, and maintenance of statutory records and registers to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

j. Maintain and update compliance databases, records, and reporting systems to support tracking, monitoring, and audit readiness.

k. Prepare periodic reports on compliance status, policy implementation, and regulatory matters for review by the Compliance Lead.

l. Support the implementation of compliance-related advice and directives issued by the Compliance Lead, General Counsel, and Company Secretary.

m. Provide support on compliance-related matters, including handling assigned legal and regulatory tasks under supervision.

n. Perform other duties as assigned by the Compliance Lead, General Counsel, or Company Secretary.

Key Requirements

Education and Work Experience

a. Bachelor of Laws (LL.B).

b. Barrister-at-Law (B.L.) and qualification to practice in Nigeria.

c. A relevant postgraduate degree (e.g., LL.M) is an added advantage.

Professional Qualification

d. Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is required.

e. Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., Institute of Chartered Secretaries and

Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) or compliance-related certifications) is an added advantage.

Desired Experience

f. Minimum of 8 years’ post-qualification experience in legal, compliance, or corporate governance roles.

g. Practical experience in compliance monitoring, regulatory engagement, and policy implementation.

Experience in a manufacturing, energy, or multinational environment is preferred

a. Strong knowledge of corporate governance frameworks, compliance principles, and  applicable regulatory requirements.

b. Good understanding of industry-specific regulations, particularly within a manufacturing or energy environment.

c. Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve compliance issues, breaches, and regulatory risks.

d. Knowledge of statutory obligations, regulatory bodies, and compliance requirements within Nigeria.

e. Experience in compliance monitoring, auditing, and review of business processes.

f. Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and internal policies to business operations.

g. Strong research and analytical skills for regulatory and policy-related matters. h. Familiarity with compliance reporting, documentation, and record-keeping requirements.

i. Working knowledge of dispute resolution processes, including litigation.

j. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and compliance tracking systems.
