ESG / Sustainability Analyst
Job Title/ Position: ESG / Sustainability Analyst
Reports To: ESG & Sustainability Manager
Location: Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemical FZE
Job Summary
2. Collect, consolidate, validate, analyse, and maintain ESG and sustainability data from various departments and business functions.
3. Assist in the preparation of sustainability reports, ESG disclosures, questionnaires, and regulatory submissions.
4. Support reporting activities in accordance with IFRS S1, IFRS S2, GRI Standards, CDP, UN SDGs, and other applicable sustainability frameworks.
5. Maintain sustainability databases, reporting templates, trackers, and documentation repositories.
6. Monitor sustainability KPIs, targets, action plans, and performance commitments and report progress to management.
7. Develop dashboards, scorecards, charts, and performance reports to support ESG monitoring and decision-making.
8. Conduct sustainability benchmarking and research on emerging ESG trends, industry practices, and regulatory developments.
9. Support ESG materiality assessments and periodic reviews of material sustainability topics.
10. Assist in stakeholder mapping, stakeholder engagement activities, surveys, consultations, workshops, and interviews.
11. Analyse stakeholder feedback and support the identification of material sustainability issues and priorities.
12. Maintain stakeholder engagement records, databases, and action-tracking tools.
13. Support ESG risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation activities.
14. Assist in coordinating ESG ratings, investor questionnaires, sustainability assessments, and external benchmarking exercises.
15. Support sustainability assurance, verification, audit, and review activities by providing required data, records, and documentation.
16. Monitor developments in sustainability regulations, disclosure requirements, and ESG standards and communicate relevant updates.
18. Support sustainability communication campaigns, employee engagement programmes, and awareness initiatives.
19. Prepare sustainability presentations, reports, briefing notes, meeting materials, and management updates.
20. Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, Risk Management, Community Affairs, and other departments on sustainability projects and initiatives.
21. Support sustainability due diligence activities relating to projects, investments, suppliers, contractors, and business partners.
22. Maintain sustainability records and documentation to ensure audit readiness and information traceability.
23. Support continuous improvement of ESG reporting processes, sustainability data quality, and performance management systems.
24. Participate in sustainability committees, cross-functional working groups, and improvement projects as required.
25. Support implementation of social sustainability programmes, including community development, local content, diversity and inclusion, human rights, and employee wellbeing initiatives.
26. Perform any other ESG, sustainability, reporting, compliance, stakeholder engagement, or project-related duties as assigned by the ESG & Sustainability Manager or Head, Sustainability & Decarbonisation.
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Energy Management, Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Preferred: Master's Degree in Sustainability, Climate Change, Environmental Management, ESG, Corporate Governance, Energy Management, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience in sustainability, ESG reporting, environmental management, corporate responsibility, climate change, or related disciplines.
• Experience supporting sustainability reporting, ESG disclosures, stakeholder engagement, sustainability performance monitoring, or corporate sustainability programmes.
• Experience within the refining, petrochemical, oil and gas, manufacturing, mining, power, energy, cement, fertilizer, or other heavy industrial sectors is an advantage.
• Practical experience working with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI, IFRS S1, IFRS S2, CDP, SASB, UN SDGs, and related standards is desirable.
• Experience supporting sustainability audits, assurance engagements, ESG assessments, ratings submissions, and regulatory reporting activities is an added advantage.

• Ability to collect, validate, analyse, and interpret sustainability data, translating complex information into meaningful insights, performance reports, and decision-support tools.
• Strong sustainability reporting and disclosure skills, with the ability to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable reporting frameworks and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, materiality assessments, and sustainability consultations, effectively incorporating stakeholder perspectives into sustainability planning and reporting processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability to identify sustainability performance gaps, assess ESG risks and opportunities, and recommend practical improvement actions.
• Ability to support sustainability assurance, audit, and compliance activities by maintaining robust documentation, evidence trails, and reporting processes that withstand external scrutiny.
• Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across business functions to embed sustainability principles into operational, commercial, and strategic decision-making processes.
