Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Head of Finance to join Dangote Cement Transport, Obajana. In this role, you will oversee, manage all financial activities, and ensure accurate accounting, valuation, reporting, and control of all financial assets and liabilities of Dangote Cement Transport, Obajana in compliance with IFRS, Group Accounting Policies, Nigerian regulatory requirements, and internal controls. The role ensures integrity of the Statement of Financial Position, supports funding decisions, and enhances financial risk management in Dangote Cement Transport, Obajana.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide overall financial leadership and strategic direction and ensuring financial integrity, sustainability, and value creation.
- Oversee end‑to‑end financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts for transport and fleet operations.
- Lead cost optimization initiatives across transport operations, with strong focus on:

- Fleet cost per kilometre / ton
- Fuel consumption and efficiency
- Maintenance and repair cost control
- Asset utilization and turnaround time
- Lead advanced FP&A processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis directly linked to transport and operational drivers.
- Support funding and capital allocation decisions relating to fleet investments and large transport assets.
- Engage senior operations leaders with clear, data‑driven financial insights to influence decision‑making.
- Build a high‑performance finance function with strong technical, analytical, and business partnering capabilities.
- Drive effective use of SAP and other financial systems to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and control.
Key Requirements
- BSc/HND in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification (preferred).
- Strong exposure to corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
- Professional certification (ACA / ACCA / CPA) required
- Minimum of 15 years finance experience with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles
- Strong experience in manufacturing, logistics, FMCG. transport, or asset-heavy operations
- Proven ability to manage a finance team size of 27+ accountants.
- Deep understanding of fleet economics (cost per km/ton, utilization, turnaround time)
- Strong expertise in fuel cost management and optimization
- Solid experience in maintenance cost control & asset lifecycle management
- Advanced FP&A capability (budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis linked to operations)
- Ability to translate operational metrics into financial performance insights
- Strong business partnering skills with transport, procurement, and operations teams
- Able to engage senior operations leaders and external stakeholder
- Proven track record in cost optimization and efficiency improvement initiatives
- Strong leadership experience managing large, dispersed finance teams
Skills and Behaviours
- Strong exposure to manufacturing, cement, or large industrial operations.
- Hands-on experience with IFRS financial instruments accounting.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS (9, 7, 16, IAS 32, IAS 21).
