The Manager, Civil and Project Engineering, is responsible for the planning, design, execution, and supervision of all civil, structural, and multidisciplinary engineering projects within the Ibese Plant and Estate environment. The role provides strategic leadership and technical oversight throughout all project phases from conception to completion, ensuring quality, safety, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to Dangote Group’s operational standards. The position also manages vendor-led projects, optimizes infrastructure sustainability, and drives continuous improvement across all plant facilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects within the plant and estate environment.
  2. Supervise all civil and structural works, ensuring compliance with approved designs, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
  3. Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities involving civil, mechanical, and electrical works.
  4. Review, approve, and validate technical drawings, engineering designs, and cost estimates.
  5. Oversee the maintenance and integrity of civil infrastructure, including roads, drainage, buildings, foundations, and estate facilities.
  6. Plan and manage civil engineering budgets, project timelines, and resource allocations.
  7. Ensure effective contract and vendor management, monitoring contractor performance, adherence to timelines, and quality of deliverables.
  8. Provide leadership and technical guidance to the civil engineering team, promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  9. Liaise with the procurement, projects, maintenance, and HSE departments to ensure smooth execution of all engineering works.
  10. Conduct regular project site inspections to monitor progress, safety compliance, and quality of work.
  11. Prepare and present project progress reports, risk assessments, and recommendations to management.
  12. Implement preventive maintenance programs and infrastructure improvement plans for plant and estate facilities.
  13. Support the whole department in strategic planning, capital projects, and long-term infrastructure development initiatives.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
    (A master’s degree in civil/Structural Engineering, Project Management, or Engineering Management is an added advantage.)
  • Experience: Minimum of 10–12 years post-qualification experience in civil engineering within an industrial or plant environment, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Certification: Registered Engineer (COREN) or relevant professional body membership.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale civil, mechanical, and electrical projects.
  • Strong knowledge of civil design, construction standards, and project management principles.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project, and other relevant engineering software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
