Job Summary

The Medical officer will oversee the delivery of comprehensive healthcare services to employees within the cement manufacturing plant. This role ensures the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of occupational and general health conditions, while promoting workplace safety and wellness. The officer will collaborate with nurses, safety officers and management to maintain a healthy workforce and compliance with regulatory standards.

Duties and Responsibilitites

  • Work closely with nurses and healthcare staff to ensure patient’s receive quality medical attention.
  • Conduct medical examinations, diagnostic tests and screenings for injuries, illnesses or occupational diseases.
  • Prescribe medications and refer patients to specialized medical professionals when necessary.
  • Provide emergency medical care for workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Promote preventive healthcare and wellness programs tailored to industrial workers.
  • Patient Records: Maintain regulatory updated medical records documenting evaluations, treatments, tests results and medications.
  • Diagnosis & Treatment: Evaluate symptoms and determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Medication Compliance: Prescribe medications in compliance with state and federal regulations, informing patients of risks, complications and drug interactions.
  • Supervision: Supervise and evaluate medical assistants and nursing staff to ensure compliance with regulations and effectiveness of care programs.
  • Health Education: Counsel patients on nutrition, fitness, hygiene, and lifestyle choices to promote long-term health.
  • Occupational Health: Monitor and manage healthcare risks specific to cement manufacturing, including respiratory conditions, musculoskeletal disorders, and chemical exposure.
  • Emergency Response: Provide immediate care during workplace accidents, coordinate evacuation if necessary, and liaise with external hospitals.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws.
  • Wellness Programs: Develop and implement health awareness campaigns.

Acacdemid Qualification, Experience, and Competence

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognised institution.
  • Valid License to practise medicine in Tanzania.
  • Certification or training in occupational health is an advantage.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years’ post qualification experience.
  • Strong Knowledge of occupational health hazards, emergency medicine, and preventive healthcare.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
