Job Summary

The Assistant Manager, Procurement at Dangote Cement Plc is responsible for developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implementing purchasing strategies.
  • Manage daily purchasing activities, supervising staff, and allocating tasks.
  • Manage supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
  • Maintain the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
  • Manage the maintenance of office/manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Ensure all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  • Prepare cost estimates and managing budgets.
  • Coach new employees in the purchasing process.

Requirements

  • Bsc/HND in Purchasing and Supply or related discipline.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years working experience in similar role.
  • Supervisory and management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office tools.
  • Excellent materials management and engineering knowledge.
  • Excellent technical skills, analytical  ability, good judgement, and strong operational focus.
  • Experience with SAP software.
  • Experience in the manufacturing /Cement industry.
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
