Job Summary
The Senior Mechanical Engineer - Kiln at Dangote Cement Plc is responsible for ensuring that kiln maintenance are carred out properly and safely as pe the requirement of the plant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the Maintenance of the Kilns & Coal Mill equipment towards achievement of the set targets.
- Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, opening and closing of SAP Notifications, Orders, Requests as when due.
- Plan and execute the Scheduled maintenance activities towards improving the uptime of the equipment.
- Ensures stores and spares planning, raising of requirement in advance considering a lead time of minimum 12 months and following up for the spares.
- Ensures that the Inventory in General Stores with respect to the spares of Kiln section is at the minimum level.
- Ensures that safe Work procedures & regular House Keeping are followed in all the activities in the section towards the achievement of Zero Accident.
- Evaluation of the subordinates and keep them informed of their strengths and the areas where development is required, also evaluate their training needs.
- Ensures in-house training of junior staff towards improving their knowledge as well as technical skills.
- Undertake improvement Jobs in the section that will improve the productivity/reliability, minimize breakdown and the working environment of the department.
- Ensure that all the daily activities and documentation meet all Statutory requirements and ISO Standards.
Requirements
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of nine (9) years of experience
Skills and Competencies
- Proven working experience in mechanical engineering
- Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM), finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
- Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)
- Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other)
- Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
- Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, Excel, LabView etc)
- Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
- Creativity and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
- Technical writing skills
