Job Summary

The Crusher Mechanical Technician at Dangote Cement Plc is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations and maintenance of crusher systems and associated equipment by executing inspections, troubleshooting breakdowns, and maintaining high safety and performance standards.

Key Duties and responsibilities

  • Carry out routine inspection of Impact crushers / roller crushers, belt conveyors, chain conveyors, apron feeders, Gearboxes, motors, pulleys, idlers, and couplings.
  • Identify abnormalities like vibration, noise, misalignment, overheating.
  • Ensure timely preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Maintain inspection records and checklists.
  • Attend to equipment breakdowns promptly and ensure minimum downtime.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring failures.
  • Coordinate with stores for spare parts and ensure availability.
  • Prepare breakdown reports and recommend improvements.
  • Perform laser alignment of Motor-gearbox assemblies, Couplings and drive systems.
  • Ensure proper alignment to avoid vibration and premature failures.
  • Carry out balancing and precision checks where required.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures and company policies.
  • Conduct toolbox talks before maintenance jobs.
  • Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Plan and execute shutdown activities efficiently.

Requirements

  • Trade Test or OND in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of relevant working experience as a Crusher Mechanical Technician.
  • Strong knowledge of crusher systems and material handling equipment.
  • Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience in laser alignment, hydraulic  system and maintenance tools.
  • Leadership and team management ability.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office / maintenance systems).
