Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Financial Reporting Manager at Okpella Cement Limited who will be responsible for overseeing the preparation, accuracy, integrity, and timely submission of financial reports in line with company policies, statutory requirements, accounting standards, and management reporting needs. The role reports to the Deputy Financial Controller, Profit and Loss, and involves coordinating financial closing activities, preparing periodic financial statements, analysing financial performance, ensuring compliance with internal controls, supporting audits, and providing reliable financial information to aid management decision-making.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with company policies, statutory regulations, and applicable accounting standards.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results.
  • Review general ledger balances, trial balance, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare management reports, financial analysis, variance reports, forecasts, and commentary to support informed decision-making.
  • Monitor compliance with internal controls, financial reporting procedures, tax requirements, audit recommendations, and corporate governance standards.
  • Preparation of statutory financial statements and coordinate external and internal audit activities by providing required schedules, explanations, and documentation.
  • Review and validate revenue, cost, inventory, fixed assets, accruals, provisions, intercompany transactions, and other key financial reporting areas.
  • Partner with plant management, finance teams, cost control, procurement, stores, sales, and other departments to resolve financial reporting issues and improve reporting accuracy.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial reports, dashboards, regulatory returns, and management information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting processes, systems, documentation, and reporting timelines.
  • Supervise, guide, and develop finance team members to ensure professionalism, accountability, and effective service delivery.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Deputy Financial Controller, Profit and Loss.

RequirementsEducation and Work Experience

  • First degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is required; a Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, audit, or finance operations, preferably within manufacturing, cement, FMCG, heavy industrial, or related environment, with at least three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role.

  • Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, explain variances, and provide clear recommendations to management.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, SAP, Microsoft Excel, financial reporting tools, data analysis, and Microsoft Office applications.
