Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated millwright fitter at Dangote - Okpella Cement Limited skilled tradesperson responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment used in cement manufacturing plants. This role is essential to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of various production units, such as crushers, conveyors, kilns, mills, and packaging lines.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, and align heavy machinery and mechanical components, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and rotary kilns.
- Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and perform necessary repairs or replacements of worn or damaged parts.
- Lubricate, clean, and calibrate machinery to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Inspect mechanical systems and components for wear, damage, or malfunction, and report findings to supervisors or engineering staff.
- Analyze and resolve mechanical problems quickly to restore operations and prevent production delays.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices in hazardous environments.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and equipment performance.
- Work closely with other technicians, such as electricians, welders, and production operators, to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure efficient plant operations.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Sectional Heads.
Requirements
Education and Work Experience
- First degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of five (3) years of progressive experience in industrial machinery within industrial or cement-related field.
Skills And Competencies
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity to handle heavy equipment and perform tasks in challenging environments.
- Awareness of industrial safety standards and procedures.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
