Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Head of Security at Okpella Cement Limited who will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for all security operations within the plant. The role ensures the protection of company personnel, assets, facilities, materials, and information through effective security planning, risk management, access control, surveillance, emergency response coordination, and compliance with company policies and statutory security requirements.


Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for security operations across the plant, offices, residential areas, and other company facilities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor security policies, procedures, systems, and controls to safeguard company assets, employees, contractors, visitors, and business operations.
  • Oversee access control, patrol operations, CCTV surveillance, incident reporting, investigations, traffic control, and emergency response activities.
  • Coordinate security risk assessments and implement preventive measures to mitigate threats, theft, sabotage, vandalism, trespass, workplace violence, and other security breaches.
  • Supervise internal security personnel and external security service providers to ensure discipline, professionalism, accountability, and effective service delivery.
  • Liaise with relevant law enforcement agencies, community stakeholders, plant management, departmental heads, and other internal and external stakeholders on security matters.
  • Prepare and submit periodic security reports, incident reports, investigation reports, risk updates, and recommendations to management for decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with company security standards, health and safety requirements, emergency preparedness procedures, and applicable statutory regulations.
  • Train, guide, and develop security team members on security procedures, emergency response, investigation techniques, access control, reporting, and professional conduct.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Plant Director or Group Head of Security.

 

Requirements

Education and Work Experience

  • First degree in Security Management, Criminology, Intelligence Studies, Law Enforcement, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Rank of a Major in the Army or equivalent
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in security operations, corporate security, law enforcement, military, paramilitary, or industrial security, preferably within manufacturing, mining, cement, or heavy industrial environment, with at least five (5) years in a senior leadership role.

Skills And Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of corporate security management, access control, surveillance systems, investigations, emergency response, intelligence gathering, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent leadership, judgment, decision-making, problem-solving, and crisis management skills.
  • Strong communication, report writing, investigation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage security personnel, contractors, emergency situations, confidential information, and sensitive investigations professionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, security reporting systems, CCTV monitoring systems, access control systems, and incident documentation.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, discipline, professionalism, vigilance, and commitment to safety and asset protection.
