Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated surveyor, operating within the Mines Department of a cement manufacturing industry to play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient, safe, and sustainable extraction of raw materials required for cement production. This position is responsible for providing accurate measurements, mapping, and data analysis to support mining operations, compliance, and resource management


Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed surveys of mine sites, including open-pit and quarry operations, to establish boundaries, calculate volumes of extracted materials, and monitor changes in the landscape.
  • Utilize GPS, total stations, drones, and other surveying technologies to collect spatial data and produce topographical maps, site plans, and cross-sections essential for mine planning and development.
  • Collaborate with geologists and mining engineers to estimate reserves and optimize extraction methods, ensuring maximum resource utilization and minimal environmental impact.
  • Ensure all survey activities comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements. Provide accurate documentation for government reporting and internal audits.
  • Supply up-to-date survey data to mining teams, aiding in the design of haul roads, pit slopes, waste dumps, and other mining infrastructure.
  • Track progress of mining activities, update site plans, and produce regular reports for management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Stay abreast of advances in surveying technology and integrate new methods to improve accuracy, efficiency, and safety within the mines department.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Sectional Heads.

Requirements

Education and Work Experience

  • First degree in Surveying or related field.
  • Professional certification or licensing as a surveyor (like SURCON).
  • Minimum of Ten (10) years of experience as a surveyor within industrial or cement-related field.

Skills And Competencies

  • Experience in mining or heavy industry surveying is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in modern surveying instruments and software (GPS, GIS, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
