Boiler DCS Operator

Job Summary

The Boilers DCS Operator is responsible for monitoring, operating, and controlling all boiler operations through the Distributed Control System (DCS). The role ensures safe and efficient operation of boilers, maintains process parameters, handles alarms and shutdowns, and coordinates with field staff to achieve continuous and optimized steam generation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control all boiler operations from the DCS panel.

  • Maintain steam pressure, temperature, fuel feed, and water levels as per targets.

  • Acknowledge and respond to system alarms, trips, and deviations.

  • Coordinate with field operators for start-up, shutdown, and emergency actions.

  • Record hourly readings, trends, and deviations in the shift logbook.

  • Report any malfunction, trip, or process anomaly to Shift Engineer.

  • Assist in remote start/stop of fans, pumps, fuel systems, and ID/FD systems.

  • Ensure compliance with SOPs and emergency procedures.

  • Support plant energy optimization by maintaining stable boiler parameters.

  • Participate in control system testing, tuning, and maintenance coordination.

Educational Qualification and Work Experience

  • Diploma or HND in Mechanical Engineering / Power Plant Technology.

  •  Professional Certification is an added advantage. (First-Class Boiler Attendant Certificate is must).

  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in boiler DCS operation within cogeneration or thermal plants.
