Job Summary

The Mill Fitter is accountable for the efficient operation, maintenance, and upkeep of all mill house equipment, including milling drives, cane preparatory devices, and centrifugal pumps.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

·       The role involves conducting routine inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring minimal equipment downtime to achieve smooth and continuous milling operations.
  • Responsible for identifying mechanical issues, coordinating repairs, maintaining spare parts readiness, and adhering to safety and operational standards during all maintenance activities.
  • Accountable for the maintaining and monitoring the record of miscarriages and taking corrective actions. Maintains the history cards of the equipment in the sections entrusted and keeps the track of maintenance activities attended.
  • Plans & executes the jobs informed by the operation team in the sections entrusted for smooth operation of the plant.
  •  Shall report to the Shift Engineer any events of mechanical complications.
  • Ensuring the standby equipment availability all time and maintaining the critical spares for the equipment in respective area.
  • Implement and monitor safety practices and ensure compliance with statutory and company safety standards.
  • Synchronize with Mainly process dept. along with Mill /Boiler/ Electrical / process engineers for charming operation.
  • Execute Servicing and maintenance of the Mill house equipment during off cop period.
  • Support to Prepares the annual expenditure budget for his sections and analyze the variance (Budget Vs Actual) & imitate necessary effective control system.
  • The training needs to be identified of his subordinates and draw necessary schedule to import the training at regular intervals.
  • Accountable for maintaining and ensure the safety in all activities of operation and Maintenance.

Educational Qualification and Work Experience

  • Minimum of Diploma/ TT1 /ITI in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Over 15 years of hands-on experience in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of milling section equipment in sugar plants, including milling drives, gearboxes, couplings, and centrifugal pumps.
