Powerhouse Shift Supervisor

Job Summary

The Powerhouse Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising the field operations of the electrical systems in the powerhouse during their assigned shift. This includes ensuring proper functioning of switchgear, transformers, power distribution systems, and responding to any electrical abnormalities. The role bridges the communication between control room and field operations and ensures safety compliance, accurate reporting, and disciplined execution of tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all field activities related to electrical systems during shift.

  • Monitor operation of switchboards, circuit breakers, and power panels.

  • Conduct field inspections of transformers, MCCs, and distribution boards.

  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures and PPE usage.

  • Respond to electrical issues, alarms, and provide initial troubleshooting support.

  • Ensure backup systems (DGs/UPS) are checked and ready.

  • Report operational status and incidents to Shift Engineer and log activities.

  • Supervise and support switchboard operators and helpers.

  • Ensure cleanliness, order, and maintenance readiness of electrical rooms.

  • Participate in shift handovers and maintain communication with control room

Educational Qualification and Work Experience

  • Diploma or HND Electrical Engineering.

  •  Professional Certification is an added advantage. (Electrical Competency Certificate preferred).

  • Minimum 10–15 years in electrical field operations in a power plant, with 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
