Steam Turbine Mechanical Engineer

 Job Summary

The steam turbines engineer supports the Powerhouse Mechanical In-Charge in the day-to-day execution of mechanical maintenance, repairs, and inspections of turbines and auxiliary equipment. The role focuses on hands-on supervision, coordination with shift teams, and ensuring safe and reliable mechanical operations in the powerhouse.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervising the maintenance of turbines, pumps, gearboxes, and related systems.
  • Coordinate minor and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Monitor equipment health and support in fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Follow up on breakdowns and coordinate technician deployment.
  • Maintain records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and spares used.
  • Support during shutdowns and overhauls of powerhouse equipment.
  • Ensure safety practices and LOTO compliance during work execution.
  • Communicate with operations, electrical, and instrumentation teams for job coordination.
  • Supervise junior maintenance staff and provide task-based guidance.
  • Report progress and technical issues to the Mechanical In-Charge.

Educational Qualification and Work Experience

  • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Certification in Mechanical Maintenance or Turbine Systems (preferred).
  • Minimum 8–10 years in mechanical maintenance with 5 years in a supervisory or assistant engineer role in a power plant
